Sugared buns with olive oil

Delicious sugared buns with olive oil.



  • 4 cups of olive oil
  • 1 cup of ouzo
  • 1 cup absolute alcohol
  • 1 small plate of icing sugar
  • ½ small plate of coarse sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • 2 vanillas
  • 3 kilos plain flour
  • ½ kilo shelled almonds
  • 1 kilo of icing sugar for the topping


Put the oil in the fridge from the previous evening and stir it. Gradually mix in all the materials, and lastly, add the flour until the mixture resembles a soft dough. Shape the dough into small buns of any shape, placing them in rows on a greaseproofed tray. Bake in a pre-heated oven set at about 200°C for 20 minutes, until golden brown. Remove the buns from the tray until cold and coat with the icing sugar.
