Festive pork with molasses

A tasty proposal for your festive table.



  • 2 kilos pork (leg)
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 glasses of Agiorgitiko wine
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. savory
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Salt and fresly ground pepper
  • 1 eggplant, cut into slices
  • 3 zucchini, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced

Put the meat in a bowl and marinate with a glass of wine and a half cup of molasses, adding the salt, pepper and savory. Put the bowl in the refrigerator for approximately 6 to 7 hours. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a baking tray and put in the meat after smearing well with the honey. Bake for 1½ to 2 hours in the oven, adding the remaining wine and molasses, while coating the meat with the its juices during baking, until golden brown. Grill the zucchini, tomato slices and eggplant slices. Serve the meat with the grilled vegetables or mashed potatoes.
