Half-moons with sesame

Yummy half-moons with sesame!



  • 1 kilo plain flour
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 6 cloves, ground
  • 1 nutmeg, ground
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 3 tbsp. Sugar
  • 1 level tsp. Salt
  • A pinch of cinnamon powder
  • Lukewarm water
  • Black and white sesame seeds for the topping

For the filling

  • ½ kilo raisins
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • a bit of olive oil
  • a bit of anise


Sauté the onion in a pan with the olive oil until brown and mix in the crused raisins and anise. Prepare the dough: Mix the flour, yeast, spices, sugar and salt, add the olive oil and water as needed until the dough has a smooth consistency. Leave to rest covered for 10 minutes. Cut and shape the dough into round patties, put one tablespoon of filling and fold into half moons. Sprinkle the sesame seeds onto the crescents and leave to rest. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C until golden-brown.
